Tipon
The Inca ruinas at Tipon are a half hour bus journey from Cusco towards Urcos. The crowded bus drops you off at the side of the road at the bottom of the valley. Its then a taxi 4km uphill- Tipon is higher than Cusco and the walk up would have been very painful, indeed! I did walk down. It´s a national holiday today and everywhere is pretty quiet.
The extensive Inca water irrigation system and terraces high up in the mountains which still work today. No turistas, muy bonita y muy tranquilo!

Tipon is a popular area for the little fluffy ´cuy´ but I can´t bring myself to try it! I have seen it on someone else´s plate and it does look a little brutal- saying that on wednesday I had ´lechon´ which is a Cusco favourito- roast suckling pig!´
